Utah Ranch lease

Wild Country Inc. has partnered with a handful of groups (corporations, private businesses, families, and friends) in a conservation partnership/environmental lease on a 230,000-acre private ranch in Northern Utah. This lease allows groups to bring guests on the ranch’s fall hunt, enjoy the fishing on the ranch, use the ranch’s lodge for retreats or family getaways, and much more.

The Ranch

The Utah ranch is stunning, with diverse habitats and ecosystems. The ranch stretches across rugged pine mountain cliffs, aspen meadows, sage and maple draw, and rolling prairie grasslands. In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the CWMU encompasses 230,000+ acres.

The Ranch is a full-time cattle ranch grazed and managed mindfully with the whole ecosystem in mind. Ranch management’s proven track record over many decades of rotational grazing has shown that cattle, wildlife, and habitat can live and thrive in conjunction.

Hunting

From a hunting perspective, the Utah ranch is remarkable and one of a kind. The property supports tremendous densities and big, high-quality games. This amazing hunting is a 100% fair chase for rocky mountain elk, mule deer, pronghorn, and shiras moose. Conservation and working with the wildlife are of the utmost importance to the hunting on the ranch. Ranch management, biologists, and Wild Country Inc. manage the harvest age of bucks and bulls to maximize complete trophy and age potential.

Mule Deer

One of the most rewarding but challenging big game animals to hunt is trophy mule deer. The mule deer’s keen senses and elusive nature make it an exciting hunt; whether hunting during the early archery hunts or during the November rut, mule deer hunting is fun.

Since the lease program's introduction, ranch management and Wild Country Inc. have worked hard to maintain and increase the herd's quality and quantity since the lease’s establishment (2010). The ranch has been very successful with its management tactics and has achieved a diverse age structure in the herd. The ranch maintains many mature trophy-class bucks.

Rocky Mountain Elk

With numbers that will astonish, the elk herd on the Utah ranch is nothing short of spectacular. With a 90 bull to 100 cow ratio, mature-class bull elk are not hard to come by. This bull elk hunt is unsurpassed by any elk hunt in the nation because of the quality and quantity of the elk herd. Elk hunting on this ranch is an extremely exciting and rewarding experience.

Pronghorn “American Antelope”

Pronghorn grace the plains on the eastern grasslands of the ranch. Often referred to as the "speed goat,” the pronghorn is fascinating and unique to see on the hoof in the open prairie. With a large pronghorn population, this is a very successful hunt. Whether hunting them in September during the rut or late October when they group in the hundreds, this is a wonderful big game animal to have as part of the lease program.

Shiras Moose

An impressive big game animal to see in the field is the Shiras moose. They can stand 5-6.5 feet from hooves to shoulders. Most of our moose hunts are done in October when the leaves are shed from the trees, and many moose can be seen. Many of our hunts produce 35 to 40-inch bull moose. This is a unique big game animal to have as part of the lease program. There are few places you can purchase a Shiras moose hunt without going through a state’s big game application process. Only two to three moose hunting tags are allocated each year for the moose on the ranch.

Fly Fishing

The fishing on the ranch is unique and diverse. Catch the strongest trophy rainbows on the ranch’s ponds and lakes from the shore or out in a drift boat. Enjoy some of the most pristine mountain streams where abundant, beautiful native cutthroat trout can be caught. Chase hard-fighting brown trout on our private tailwater river. Fishing on the ranch is open and available from the end of April until the beginning of November.

Upland Bird and Waterfowl Hunting

The ranch has an abundance of upland birds. Bag limits can be met daily on blue and ruffed grouse. The property supports a healthy population of migratory birds, including Canadian Geese and various duck species. During the fall season, assignees can enjoy the ranch’s bird hunting opportunities.

Recreational Activities

Hunting and fly fishing are some of the Ranch’s greatest treasures, but there is much more to enjoy on this magnificent stretch of land. Other recreational activities can include:

  • Hiking

  • Mountain biking

  • Bird watching/birding

  • Sightseeing

  • Wildlife observing

  • Arrowhead hunting

  • Shed hunting

  • Target shooting

  • Photo and video shoots (for business use)

  • Stand-up paddle boarding/canoeing

The lodge on the ranch is a grand 12,000-square-foot building equipped with all the amenities of a modern lodge, a beautiful fireplace, spectacular views, and a great camp cook. Each hunter gets his or her room furnished with a queen bed or two twin beds and a private bathroom.

During the fall hunting months, the lodge is used by all hunters, guests, and guides.

Each assignee is allotted an exclusive five-night stay in the lodge during the spring or summer months. Assignees will use it for corporate events, business meetings, team building, family reunions, or a relaxing retreat.

We are excited about your potential to join the lease program at the Utah Ranch and be a part of the Wild Country family. The hunting on the ranch is world class and is hard to compare to anywhere else in the world, which makes for a spectacular piece of property and program to be involved in. Hunting is just the beginning of what you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of on the property.

Standard lease breakdown:
