Colin is married to his lifetime companion, Linda. They have 5 children and 9 grandchildren who are an important part of their lives.

Colin was raised in a small Idaho farming community. He grew up farming and ranching and subsequently fell in love with being in the outdoors. His passion for hunting and fishing began early in life and was mostly self-taught.

While attending college, law enforcement classes piqued his interest. He soon joined the Davis County Sheriff’s Office and remained there for 30 years. He worked and managed multiple divisions, acquiring paramedic skills, attending the FBI National Academy and retiring as a Captain. The diversity of law enforcement at the Sheriff’s office was a good fit. Search and rescue, snowmobiling, and motorcycle riding fit with his love of the outdoors.

Colin was a part of the original Paramedic program in Davis County. This part of his job led to many adventures, including an exciting part-time career as a flight paramedic with the University of Utah Airmed.

All of his family and work activities never stopped Colin from pursuing his favorite pastime of hunting and fishing. In 2005 he drew a much desired Deseret ranch deer tag. After experiencing Deseret ranch with its diverse landscapes, incredible wildlife, and amiable people, Colin knew he had to find a way to be able to spend more time there. It took a couple of years but with his law enforcement background, he was able to get his “dream job” working security on Deseret. Working for and with great people at Wild Country Outfitters on Deseret ranch has been and continues to be one of the best adventures of his life.
