Fall Tip Guidelines
Tips:
Tips are a great way to show appreciation to Wild Country Outfitters guides and staff. We get this question about what a standard tip looks like, and here is our breakdown for our private/paying clients.
Tips to guide (elk, deer, moose): We see anywhere from $1,900-$5,000 per guide, with most tips ending up in the around of $2,500-$2,700
Tips to guide (pronghorn): $800-$1,500 per guide (These are based on 3-day hunts)
Tips to cook: $100-$350 per hunter/guest (tip the main cook, and she splits the tip with her assistant)
If you are bringing a cameraman or guest, please ensure tips are taken care of for the cameraman or guest.
Tips to packer, camp host, maintenance crew
Kenny Taylor is the packer, camp assistant, and maintenance man. Even on the deer hunts where he doesn’t pack out your big game animal, he could have helped spot for you or your group, etc. Kenny’s tip will range because of the number of hunters in camp and hunters in each group. Also, how much he assisted in making the hunt a success. Here are some breakdowns that may help. You could tip more if Kenny did exceptional work with you and the group.
Example 1: Company X brings five elk or deer hunters into the group. He packs out most of those animals or helps by spotting for the group (especially for the deer hunts). He makes the hunters stay comfortable by keeping the lodge clean and doing any lodge maintenance. A good tip to Kenny from this group would be $500-$750.
Example 2: you are an individual hunter in camp. He will still be doing the same duties as example 1. A good tip to Kenny would be $100-$300 per hunter.
Tips for the shuttle:
$100 (each way) if the individual picking up guides the hunter/group.
Or $175 (each way) if the individual picking up is only used for a shuttle.
